02 The main reasons and requirements for recent customs inspections
Reasons that may lead to a strict investigation:
*Undeclared items listed on commercial invoices can be heavily scrutinized and can face significant fines as well as have other significant repercussions.
*Undervalued. U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently conducted increased audits of FBA imports (CF28 and CF29).
Correspondence Requirements:
*Undervaluing has been brought to the attention of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and importers are required to provide proof of bank payments with suppliers and proof of bank payments with customers, along with contracts and purchase orders.
*Inflating the value of the shipment. Even in large quantities, the value of each unit must not be less than 0.001 cents.
*Ensure that there is no infringement. When receiving the goods you need to make sure that the trademarks are not infringed, e.g. SGS.
03 Pickup and return of containers
Except for the cities below, the average is currently around 4 days, and the terminals are returning containers normally for the time being.
Houston
*Marinas don’t take empties, off-site locker returns become more frequent.
Atlanta
*Beginning March 19, the Norfolk Southern Austell train station in Atlanta has been reorganized and will no longer provide racks. Fleets will have to bring their own racks into the train station and wait for the cabinets to be loaded on-site. When you return empty containers, you will only receive empty boxes, wait in line to unload the containers, and take the racks with you. In the event of a Saturday or Sunday LFD, there is a possibility of incurring a demurrage fee because there are not enough car racks. At present, the estimated time for lifting a container has increased to 3-5 hours.
*Train stations do not accept empty cabinets Off-site return cabinets become more.
Los Angeles
*There is a shortage of appointments for picking up and returning containers at major terminals.
Chicago
*Train arrivals are concentrated and there is a severe shortage of racks, requiring trucks to bring their own racks for pickup.
*Serious shortage of 45’s.
*Upon arrival at the Chicago yard, the seals on some of the containers were cut and there was a shortage of cargo.
Seattle
*The terminal closes randomly every Friday and is unable to pick up and return containers.
*The terminal is missing 45’s frames.
